Save A Vet Now began operations with volunteers giving speeches and soliciting donations at various business and organization meetings in an effort to spread awareness of the veteran suicide crisis in our local communities. This awareness has helped individuals and organizations make the decision to answer our call to action.
In November 2019 Save A Vet Now held its first annual Artwork Can Save A Vet Fundraiser. The success of this fundraiser was made possible by the efforts of local business partners as well as the public media. Shortly thereafter, Save A Vet Now partnered with Coastal Horizons, Inc., a well known and highly respected Wilmington, North Carolina based mental health and substance use service provider. Together, we created the Veterans Outreach Program. This program provides local veterans with an opportunity to receive effective and discreet treatment for PTSD, depression, and substance use without financial barriers.
We are proud to announce that Save A Vet Now received AARP’s 2019 Inspiration Award.
